Recently at the 2023 Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, our attention was drawn to Amy Yang, who chose to play with one of our distinctive putters, the “Fleetwood.” Our journey at T.P. Mills began in 1963 when our founder, Truett P. Mills, Sr., embarked on a mission to craft putters that surpassed existing standards. He began this endeavor in his garage, using basic hand tools to shape carbon steel into pioneering designs. Today, this tradition is upheld by his son David, who has spent years perfecting the art under his father’s guidance. From our workshop in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, we continue to offer our classic designs including the Softtail, Huey, Ming, 8802, and more.
The “Fleetwood,” a model selected by Amy Yang, is a unique creation in our line. It’s a heel-shafted putter with a broad flange that elegantly blends elements of both blade and mallet styles. This particular putter is marked by a single sightline on the flange, complemented by intricate “snow” stamping on the bumpers’ tops. These bumpers are designed to flare out at the toe and heel, strategically distributing weight to the outer edges for enhanced stability and a consistently smooth stroke. The putter’s large rear cavity proudly features “snow” stamping above the “My Wand” inscription, filled in with white paint. We’ve designed its topline to be slightly rounded, ensuring a softer aesthetic that harmonizes with the putter’s width. It also boasts a half-shaft offset flow neck, a gently milled face, and our signature “Mills” stamp near the heel.
